When we first moved into our home over 12 years ago it was a brand new build of a home with freshly plastered and painted walls and I didn’t feel I was ready to cover that over with wall paper straight away.
So we lived the whole neutral house style for a while with white and magnolia walls every where in our home.
We compromised and found some amazing wall art to compliment our home and do you know why I loved that more than any wall paper I could lay my eyes on? Because I could change the art as frequently as I liked without damaging my lovely smooth walls.
Keeping it Clean
My husband soon tired of the clean plain home and wanted to spice it up with some colour and life into our home. I however still didn’t want to cover the walls in paper.
Sad I know but hey it’s what I like. Who knew there was such a mind field of options out there from posters, prints, tapestry’s, canvas and wall Hangings the list is endless.
The Personal Touch
For our living room we decided on an array of personalised canvas prints of the children, after all everyone loves a good family photo don’t they. These canvas would stand the test of time more and a print that would get thrown in a shoe box too I’m sure.
For our down stairs bathroom I went for a super quirky feel with some Art prints of slogans and sayings. After all everyone loved a read on the loo don’t they, or is that just me haha.
I love super unique unusual prints that will raise a smile or get people talking. We chose to make our down stairs loo a bit of an inspirational quote zone with beautiful prints like these.
With quotes and slogan wall art I feel you can get away with a whole host of colours and designs there doesn’t need to be a matchy matchy theme which was hard for my eye to work with as I like uniform but it really works.
I’m curious, if you had a blank canvas of a home and didn’t want wall paper only Art to decorate it with. What would you choose?
We are re doing my sons bedroom in the new year and thinking of a bedroom mural wall sticker! I will keep you updated on the progress.
Before I sign off here is a Christmas photo to make you smile , I will be getting this on canvas for family members this year too.
When your possessions are crowding you out of your own home, it’s time to take matters in hand and regain some control. Bringing serenity and beauty back to your home isn’t hard with a few nifty storage ideas.
Organising Wardrobes
Overflowing wardrobes can mean you end up with piles of clothes on chairs in the bedroom, shoes cluttering up the floor and a tangled muddle when you’re trying to put together an outfit in the mornings.
Take control of your wardrobe with these clever tips:• Add an extra rail, especially if most of your clothes are shorter, such as shirts or skirts. You can buy a rail kit, or just put one together yourself.• Use hanger extensions so each hanger holds more than one item of clothing. You can fashion your own with a drinks can ring pull. Just use the ring pull to hook two hangers together.• Put a plastic storage chest in the bottom of the closet. It’s handy for folded items, shoes, accessories or socks and smalls.• Fix a rail or a few hooks inside the door. Use the space for ties, scarves, beads, or belts. Or hang a strip of wire mesh to hold earring collections if yours are always either getting lost or getting muddled.
Corralling Toys
If you have small children, do you sometimes feel like you’re living in a sea of toys?
For favourite toys that don’t get used every day, consider replacing a conventional bed with a storage bed, either a divan with drawers or one with a lift-up mattress. An alternative is storage tubs or baskets hidden under a frame bed. Transparent tubs are great as you can see what’s in there without dragging everything out.
For toys that are in daily play, try installing low shelves that small children can reach in their bedrooms. You can have little coat pegs underneath them for hanging things, and use the shelves themselves for books, soft toys or games and action figures.
Baskets, boxes, or trolleys on wheels are super in living areas where small children want their toys. They make for fast tidy-ups and are easy enough for kids to reach by themselves. Having a handy box to just throw things in also makes it easier to encourage children to put things away. You could even make a game out of tidying up.
Creating Spacious Living Rooms
Storage matters more than ever in living rooms, where we tend to accumulate lots of little bits and pieces that we need to hand through the day. Things like remote controls for games and TV, chargers and cables can all end up lying around on surfaces.
Occasional tables with drawers or shelves, along with additional shelving in alcoves or high up on walls can all increase your storage and create more floor space and clearer surfaces.
Think about your furnishing style too. If you’re replacing existing furniture with storage furnishings, try and buy new items that have legs rather than standing flat on the floor. Lifting the body of the furniture up creates an illusion of space because you can see the floor beneath it.
Getting More from Self Storage
Maybe your problem can’t be easily solved by adding a few shelves and bringing in more practical furniture.
In small living spaces, we very often simply need more possessions through the year than we have physical room for.
Self storage can come to rescue with a concept that works on a seasonal basis. During summer, you keep all your winter things in your storage room, including clothes or sports kit, then swap them out for summer items during winter. Figuring out storage for out season sports kit at any time of year can free up a major amount of space at home.
It’s smart because it’s like a virtual home extension. You clear the house and garden of everything you won’t need for the coming months, so you have much more space to enjoy the things you do need.
With self storage units being handy in most towns, it’s easy to pop along and retrieve something if you change your mind about an item. There’s also the hidden benefit of things looking fresh again when you haven’t seen them for a few weeks or months.
Organising possessions with smart storage solutions really does bring beauty and calm back to areas of chaos. If you’re struggling to find space for everything, a couple of these tips will hopefully help you take back control.

This year has been so turbulent hasn’t it that I think most of us where looking for some reassurance Christmas would be more normal or should I say the new normal.
Living In A Nightmare
I can’t be the only one that thought something like this would never exist in our lifetime let alone something so massive that it effects the whole world.
During the whole global pandemic of Corona Virus I’ve spend my time worrying over the elderly, vulnerable and disabled. How will they survive this and come out the other side.
Now I feel like we have a grip on the processes and things we need to do to stay safe, my worry turns to my single friends. No one wants to be lonely at Christmas!
Dating in the Dark
It was bad enough to get single friends out dating on cold winter nights when the frost is sharp and the nerves of meeting a new potential partner even sharper. Now, in 2020- we have no choice but to stay home, stay away from loved ones and definitely no human contact with anyone out side of our “bubbles”.
By utilising AI such as an ai girlfriend chat you can combat your loneliness in the comfort of your own home. Good conversations can improve human connection when you do feel comfortable leaving your home again. You can also feel safer and more like your true self when you chat online and enjoy simulated conversation as if it were with another human being.
Time Is Precious
Some people may see the time indoors as wasted time, I have found it a time to slow right down and appreciate what I have. Who knew that the weekly shop would be the highlight of my week.
If I was single I would be taking the time to get chatting to as many potential suitors as possible to really get to know the true they before any meeting is even possible. Hey, no excuses need to be made to not meet any your not sure on for now is there, You can thank Boris for that haha.
My good friend from college moved away and she’s trying to date in Hertfordshire as she mentioned that she would rather date locals then anyone long distance due to family commitments and work, so a dating agency Hertfordshire would be best for her.I think for most people dating would be more successful if local. I mean I wouldn’t be willing to move from family and friends would you?
Give them the best of you
Most people don’t like bigging themselves up in job interviews never mind to a potential new love interest and often profiles fall short of vital information. Rushing could be the difference between finding Mr Right and Mr Right now. The internet is full of tips for profile Writing. You could even have fun with it and enter some details into a dating profile generator and leave the rest to them! Risky but fun.
Honesty is the Best Policy
I think that’s the thing, if people are more honest and open during online dating there would be much less heartache and bad feel around trying the online dating scene.
How many people lie about them, their lives, their past etc online. Thousands I bet. During this time where your four walls can protect you and your heart, get asking questions, video calling, exchanging pictures minus the filters( no rude ones mind hehe) take time to be honest to yourself and get the honest uncut version of someone else.
Most of all. Take time to enjoy it!
For when we are allowed to be released back into the wild here is a dating ditty I created a few years ago.
D.A.T.I.N.G
D- Don’t tell a stranger where you live, although most people will be on the site for the same reasons you can never believe 100% of people are.
A- Always have people know where you are and who you are meeting with. Please don’t rest on your laurels that it will never happen to you because sadly no one is immune from chance takers and creeps.
T- Time will tell if there is a spark there ( ladies you tuppence will twitch if you feel something, if you get my drift lol) Take its slow your not teenagers anymore who need to rush into bed or moving in with a new love interest.
I- Indicate what you want from the date or meet up- some people are very clear on the sites they just want sex.
N- Never put your self at risk ( please revert back to D.A.T.I)
G- Go for it – what have you got to lose tomorrow is promised for no one unfortunately. Grab the bull by the horns and ride it baby.
If you were to give a single friend one bit of online dating advice what would it be? Whether it be serious, fun, rude or light hearted I want to know!
Did you know that your front door is one of the most important things to consider when renovating your home? It serves a lot of different purposes and there are actually many reasons why you should consider upgrading it along with the rest of your home exterior. But in this post, we’re going to talk specifically about your front door and why you should invest a bit of money into it.
1. It adds more kerb appeal
One of the biggest reasons why you might want to upgrade your front door is for the sake of kerb appeal. When people walk past your home, the last thing you want is for them to think negative or bad thoughts about it. You want them to praise it or at least look interested in entering your home.
2. It adds personality to your home
Your front door can add a lot of personality to your home through the design or even the colour of the door. You can choose big and bold colours like and or a deep blue, or you could try different kinds of wood or metal doors to shake things up a bit.
3. It protects your home
There are many different luxury security doors that can help look stylish while also providing excellent functionality to your home. Whether it’s a door that is made with durability in mind to prevent break-ins or a door hooked up to tech products that prevent thieves getting in, there are many different security features that you can purchase today. We highly recommend that you do a bit of shopping around for different security products in addition to your front door if safety is a concern for you.
4. It’s an excuse to replace your letterbox
If you’ve ever wanted to replace your letterbox then getting a new door is as good of a reason as anything. You could get a brand-new letterbox that looks shiny and stylish, you could go for a very traditional design, you could go with a large option or you could even remove it completely and get a separate mailbox instead
5. It keeps the cold out
A solid front door is practically draft-proof. This means that it helps to keep the cold out and ensures that the rest of your home is nice and warm. This is particularly useful when it comes to the wintertime where we spend many hours with the central heating turned on. By ensuring that no cold air can get in, your home can stay warmer for longer.
6. It increases your home’s value
If you’re planning on selling your home in the future then you may want to upgrade the front door so that it increases the home value. It’s not going to add a huge amount of value unless you add a couple of decorations to make it look more expensive than it is. However, if it adds security features and other modern features, then you can expect it to be worth a lot more.

Over the next few years, smart meters will have fully replaced the older meters throughout the UK and provided every home with efficiency in costs and usage.
On top of having them implemented is the need for education on top of how they benefit us within the home by being more environmentally conscious of the amount we use. Although smart meter readings will be sent automatically to your supplier, there is still the matter of coaching people on how to use the meters and what they are achieving with them. This is why many people now choose to heighten their career progression with a smart meter apprenticeship in order to better provide knowledge and support for consumers as the years roll out.
The What and How of Smart Meters
A full accurate reading of electricity and gas readings that are automatically supplied to your providers takes an enormous hassle away from you, giving you a correctly structured bill of usage.
Smart meters operate on two elements – The physical meter is updated and an in-home display presents how much energy is used up in real time. Smart meters are enabled through mobile networks without using Wifi or 4G data from your plan.
Among the chief benefits of implementing smart meters is the instant communication of your usage to both yourself and your supplier. This eliminates the gulf of knowledge between both parties when it comes to taking frequent meter readings manually that can lead to overestimating your bill, which takes place unless you can provide up to date readings when required.
The reduction on environmental impact is obviously a key focus and the ability to present an awareness to consumers enables them to easily track their usage and see energy expenditure in pounds to save on costly bills.
The Career Benefits
Right now at this moment there is a huge demand for skilled workers for the large planning of installation between now and 2024, when the full UK deadline for smart meter implementation will have been completed.
What this means for many individuals is a prosperous career awaits them in smart meter installation, given they complete a smart meter apprenticeships. With a substantial demand for trained and qualified installers in order to complete the planned rollout, many people stand to make a large payout in terms of workload for those driven to meet the demand.
By undertaking a green energy apprenticeships, the skills are provided and backed up by qualifications to open up avenues into this new world of electrical installation, and with commercial premises and other avenues sure to undertake the trend to help save the planet and economy, the work will continue strongly past its 2024 deadline.

If you’ve already made up your mind that it’s time to sell your house, you’ll want to make sure that it sells faster. This may partly be for your convenience, but most importantly, the longer it stays in the market, the harder it will be for you to make a great return on your investment.
So, if you are eyeing to attract more potential customers, you must undertake strategic renovations.
As you make improvements, keep efficiency in mind. For instance, enhancing curb appeal by updating landscaping or repainting the exterior can draw in buyers from the first glance. As for the interiors, simple upgrades like modernizing outdated fixtures or adding fresh paint can make rooms feel new and inviting. Additionally, for larger projects that create debris, a roll off waste container rental may help manage waste effectively, keeping the worksite clean and organized.
If you just recently took up a home loan, make sure that you work within your budget so that your investment pays off. Here are some of the renovations to consider if you want to fetch high returns from your home sale.
Consider incorporating Energy-Efficient Windows
Many prospective homeowners are always in search of energy-efficient homes. That said, if you don’t want to change your aged, drafty-single pane windows, you are going to lose out on clients. Recent statistics from Energy Star show that energy-star rated windows save homeowners more than five hundred dollars a year in cooling and heating costs. This is because the windows are keeping your home energy efficient.
Bathroom Remodeling
A home bathroom is another excellent place to maximize your remodeling budget for high returns effectively. It’s important to know that your bathroom can easily break or make your house’s overall appeal. If you do not consider making any updates, some prospects may feel like they’re about to live on someone else’s grime.
When renovating your bathroom, you should settle for the cost-effective updates that don’t just make your space versatile, but modern too. One important place not to ignore is the vanity area of your bathroom. If you’ve got a big budget, you may consider replacing your entire bathroom’s vanity, but if you are budget-conscious, re-tiling your floor, painting your walls, and upgrading your lighting fixtures are a few ways you can improve your bathroom’s look.
Installing Decking
You will significantly improve the resale value of your home by adding decking in your backyard. Dino Decking composite decking is a great one to consider. Considering the pattern common with home renovation projects, most of the renovations that give a higher return on investment tend to be geared towards the exterior of your home. If you install a more appealing decking in your backyard, your house will be more appealing to your prospective buyers.
Keep in mind that the cost of including a deck in your backyard varies significantly. Some of the determining factors include the size of your deck, built-in flower pots, multiple stairs, and built-in seating. If you want to set aside a budget for installing a wood deck, ensure that it’s enough to cover the overall construction cost of the deck you wish to construct.
You can make significant savings by doing the construction yourself, but it is highly recommended that you can get Buddy Loans and hire a qualified home improvement contractor.
For properties near water, the backyard extends to the water’s edge, and bank stability is a major factor in the home’s value. Soil erosion along the water can slowly wash away your property and ruin the view. Property owners often invest in Pond Guru shoreline restoration to fix these issues before putting their home on the market. This type of repair uses natural methods to secure the soil and stop further damage. A stable and clean waterfront makes the entire property look well-maintained to buyers.
An Enhanced Entryway
Your entry door is a focal point of your home, and this is why it must stand out. To give your entryway a makeover, repaint your door, or add a rustic style to your home by installing a new door. Take note that rustic style doors feature demeanor and thickness that signifies hardiness.
In most cases, such doors are accompanied by oversized hardware clear glass, scored lines, raised panels, among others. Aside from the door, ensure that you pay attention to your front landscape.
For instance, you can build border and retaining walls around your landscaping. The facias and guttering of the property also important, so be sure to keep them clean and well maintained with the likes of Clean Pro Gutter Cleaning Racine.
Replacing your Garage Door
Replacing a garage door is always at the top of any homeowner’s list looking to make great returns from their home’s sale. This is because garage door improvement is among the least expensive improvements you can make, depending on the type and size of the garage door.
Understand that just like your entryway, a garage door has a significant impact on your curb appeal. By installing a stylish door on your garage, interested prospects will view your property as well cared for.
Consider Incorporating Stone Veneer on the Exterior of your Home
One way to spruce up your home and gain more returns from your home’s sale is by incorporating a stone veneer on the exterior of your home. Manufactured stone veneers aren’t necessarily stone. These are faux panels that are made from composite materials that are shaped in molds. They appear as real stones, but they aren’t installed the same.
Given that these veneers are durable, affordable, and appealing, they remain a great option to update your old exterior. However, working on a portion of your house, such as the front entryway, can have significant benefits if you have a tight budget.
Refinish Your Basement
For many homeowners, the basement is always set aside as a storage area, but remember that you can still put it to good use by refinishing the space to be an entertainment area or living space, I would have it as a games room with an amazing sign from Neon Mama for a feature wall. You can even consider converting your basement into a rental space. If you invest in drywall or kitchenette, you can easily have enough space to accommodate a tenant.
This may be attractive for homeowners who may want to use it as an in-law suite or offset their mortgagees by renting the space.
Kitchen Remodel
As a homeowner, you must understand that your kitchen’s functionality and appearance can be a deal-breaker or selling point to your prospective clients. If your kitchen hasn’t been used for a long time, cost-effective renovations such as painting walls and replacing fixtures is a wise decision. If you’ve got a bigger budget, you may want to consider installing new energy-efficient appliances, new flooring, and new countertops.
It’s important to note that when considering your upgrades, settle for those that feature the latest trends and improved functionality.
Final Thoughts
By adding a rustic brick tile wall, installing energy-efficient windows, remodeling your kitchen and bathroom, and refinishing your basement, you will be able to sell your home much faster. However, if you are unsure whether the renovation you are about to take will yield great returns, you should consult a real estate expert. This is because they have a better understanding of what sells faster in houses around your neighborhood.
If you are thinking about carrying out some kind of significant home renovation, there are many things that you are going to have to think about. The truth is that one of the most important and biggest parts of the process is actually the preparation and getting ready for it, and this is something that you are going to need to look into in some detail. In this post, we will look at how you can make sure that you are getting ready for a big home renovation, so that it is going to work out successfully and not cause too much trouble or disruption in your life.
First of all, you need to think carefully about the timing of the project, as this is going to affect many other parts of the process. If you are not confident on whether it is time to get going or not, that is probably a sign that you should wait at least for now. Ideally, it should be a time when you have plenty of time off work and you generally don’t have anything else major going on in your life. That way, the project itself is less likely to be disrupted, and you are going to be able to enjoy it all the more, and cause less stress in your daily life too.
Being Financially Strong
It is always going to be a considerable financial undertaking when you renovate a home, so you need to make sure that you are ready in this manner too. Being financially strong means not only that you have the funds to carry out the project, but that you have spare cash in case it runs over, which is very common indeed. As a general rule of thumb, add on ten percent to your budget to put aside. If you are struggling to raise the dough, consider other options like home improvement loans or borrowing from family, to get you through the project itself.
Getting Quality Materials
When undertaking renovations, sourcing quality materials is crucial for achieving lasting results and enhancing the overall value of your home. For instance, if you’re considering new flooring, there are several options such as laminate floors, vinyl floors, and hardwood floors. All of these could be excellent choices based on your preferences and needs. In addition to flooring, investing in high-quality materials for other aspects of your renovation, such as roofing, cabinetry, and fixtures, can significantly impact both the aesthetics and functionality of your renovation. Quality roofing materials ensure durability and protection against the elements, while well-crafted cabinetry can enhance kitchen and bathroom spaces. By prioritizing quality materials in your renovation projects, you not only improve the immediate look and feel of your home but also contribute to the overall long-term value of your property.
Informing Your Neighbours
It’s important that you consider the kind of effect that your renovation is going to have on your local neighbourhood too. Hopefully it won’t cause anyone trouble, and you will need to take care to ensure that is the case anyway. But it is important also that you are informing your neighbours before you actually start, with enough of a warning that they have time to make any complaints or talk to you about your plans before you get started. Not only is this simply a fairer way of doing things, it also means that you are going to personally have fewer headaches during the renovation process too, as you will have got all of this dirty laundry aired out already.
It’s no shock with what is currently going on in the climate that small business owners are terrified of the future of there businesses. When in fact they should have nothing to worry about if we all supported one small business per month that could make the difference of sink or swim for them.
Yes you may find you spend a few extra pence or in many cases as things aren’t mass produced and just made to order you may save money too! Please don’t discard small business when looking for your next purchase.
Here I am going to showcase some of my favourite small businesses and the amazing things I have either bought or been gifted from then in return for some social media promotion.
Poppy’s Handmade Bedroom
Above is a picture of some beautiful makes for Poppys nursery. This second time round of decorating a nursery I have gone for a more modern then baby like theme so the decor isn’t outgrown as fast as some baby themed nurseries.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
The amazing wooden rainbow which is bang on theme with the colours of the room is from the amazingly talented Eves Peg Dolls. This not only looks amazing as decor but as Pop becomes more agile with her hands she will be able to use it as a stacking toy, two in one purpose! What’s not to love. They are well painted and very sturdy so I know these will stand the time of a toddler banding and clashing them.
Down the line when she no longer uses them I may commission someone to paint her name, dob and birth weight onto them. What do you think?
Patchwork Pretty
When it came to choosing bedding for Mini P nursery I was really stuck for choice. I didn’t want anything generic but again wanted something to stand the test of time and maybe become a family pass me down.
I went for a beautiful patchwork quilt which is totally unique using off cuts and fat quarters. This is not only beautiful but eco friendly too- it saved many scraps from the bin haha. It fits perfectly in the Ikea Cot that was super affordable at under £40 and has done 2 children!
Word Art
I for one love a bit of word art and this print from Etsy ties in perfectly with the theme and also with a very personal emotional tie to elephants for a friend that’s past. Everytime I look at it I cannot help but smile and remember the loved one.
It cleverly includes lots of words of meaning to Pop such as Sister, Girl, Cute, daughter Etc. You have the option to print these yourself or have the print posted to you.
Boyish Bedroom
We are currently in the middle of redecorating my sons bedroom and he is totally in love with Toy story and Superhero’s so we are going for a mash up of the two!
This amazing framed art always gets comments from people that visit his bedroom, some of the older family members are totally in awe of it. What an amazing unique idea for a gift. Any name can be done so what are you waiting for! Get orders in for Christmas now.
Did any of you spot the gorgeous Woody and Buzz! I asked the lovely Eve Pegs Dolls if she could commission something like this and wow did she delivery! How amazing, hand painted to perfection. Check out her insta you won’t be disappointed.
Do you shop small businesses for your home! Tell me some Instagram businesses you love so I can check them out.
