Working from home is ten times easier when you have the right setup. This should include a nice desk and a comfortable chair from somewhere like officemonster.co.uk, plus an external keyboard and, of course, a screen. Having all of these things is important, but you also need to know where and how to place them. More accurately, how should you set up your home office?
Strangely, the whole office hinges on your placement of one item; the screen. This is the thing you’ll be staring at for hours a day, so you need to find the right place to put it. Let’s go through a few ideas and considerations to help you find the ideal spot…
Close to a wall
You want to put your screen on your desk and have it as close to the wall as possible. Ideally, the back of your computer screen will almost touch the wall itself. Why is this important? Well, it’s more of a safety thing. If there’s a wall behind your screen, it can’t topple backwards and smash on the floor. Some people will sit at a desk with no wall behind the screen, and you can easily stand up and knock the desk, sending the screen flying. Here, the worst-case scenario is that your screen knocks lightly against the wall, so no damage is done.
Near a window, but away from direct sunlight
Putting your screen near a window is a good idea as you will be close to natural light and fresh air. It can also stop you from feeling like you’re couped up in a prison. To control the amount of light that comes into the room, consider denver shutters, or ones in a more local area, as this can stop so much glare coming into the room. You really want to try to avoid putting the screen in the way of direct sunlight. Simply put, the glare from your screen will make it really hard to see anything if the sun is pointing right at it. Yes, you can use mirrored window films to counter this, but it can still be extremely annoying. Instead, it’s smarter to place your screen so there’s a window close by, but no sun shines directly on it.
At eye level
With the previous two points taken care of, you’ll have a setup that’s almost ready to use. Your desk and screen are in place, but whereabouts on the desk is the screen? Realistically, it needs to be at eye level, meaning you can look at the screen without needing to bend your neck or hunch over. This is crucial for your posture, and it will make working from home so much easier. If the screen is too low down, you should buy things to prop it up. There are plenty of little desk shelves or screen raisers you can buy online to do just that. With your screen at the right level, you can sit with a tall and straight spine, reducing the chances of postural issues.
Put all three of these things together to create the ultimate home office setup! For inspiration and ideas on items you. By focusing on where to put your screen, you inadvertently work out how to organise the rest of the setup. Now, you’re ready to start working and be as productive as can be.
If there is one thing I could change about 2020 it would be to rewind to better times so I got my yearly girlie trip to Ireland in with my mums on the run girlie group.
As a rule we meet up once a month for good food, good fun and a good old moan about the husband and kids. Everyone does this right?!
Once a year we treat ourselves to a long weekend getaway usually some where like wales, Ireland or we have even been known to have a cheeky trip to Ibiza. Our all time favourite location to return to is Ireland though.
There is something about the city that just makes us giddy like little girls again, I don’t know if it’s the Guinness the girls or the good time guys we always meet out there.
We always make it our mission to find a new restaurant or experience to try while we are there something to get the taste buds excited after a day in the Guinness and cocktails lol.
So for our fellow mummy readers who fancy a trip or anyone else who is thinking of discovering Ireland here are some fab eating options we recommend.
Glovers Alley
If you want a fine dining experience and love the luxury of a nice meal and lovely surrounds this is the place for you.
This second floor hotel restaurant looks out over St Stephen’s Green and is named in honour of the city’s glove-makers who once occupied the neighbouring alleyway. Pinks, greens and floral arrangements give the room a soft touch, while dishes display contrastingly bold flavours and textures.
It even had a Michelin star! And scores 5/5 on trip advisor.
SOLE Sea Food and Grill
If you love sea food you won’t be disappointed, this place has the best around. As fresh as it comes with beautiful presentation.
Staff are super accommodating and friendly and you really do get the full sole experience.
Briar Rose Bar and Grill
If you like the more private dining experience why not try the Briar Rose bar and grill perfect for formal or informal gathering with friends and family and a menu choice to suit all. From burgers, salads, curries and even buffets and finger foods you really can please the whole family with this one venue.
Does anyone else plan a trip or day out around the food they want to eat or restaurants they want to visit? I’m a real foodie weather it be from a burger van or a find dining restaurant, I blooming love food.
Have any of you started planning your next adventure with your mum crew? Your college mates or your one true friend?
I love my family with all my heart but we all need our own time and space and mine is best spent with the girls eating good food, drinking more cocktails then my body can handle and acting the class clown because if my friends aren’t belly giggling at the end of the night I feel I haven’t done my job.
Shopping pre-loved isn’t just about saving money, although that’s often a nice benefit. It’s also about sustainability and often about getting something unique or at least unusual. There are lots of good reasons to buy pre-loved as much as you can. Here are some tips to help you grab the best bargains and make the most of your money.
Be strategic
If you go into a supermarket without a shopping list, you can quickly end up with a trolley full of impulse purchases. The same applies if you go hunting for pre-loved items without a clear idea of what it is you actually want.
Staying focused on your goal can also help guide you to the right place to find it. For example, general second-hand stores can be a lot of fun. If, however, you have a clear aim in mind, you’re probably better, or at least quicker, going to a more specialist outlet.
Research your sellers
When you’re buying pre-loved there are essentially three ways you can shop. These are:
Directly from a private seller
From a private seller on a sales platform
From a business seller
As a rule of thumb, if you’re making a significant purchase, you generally want to buy from a business. This gives you full consumer protection. For really significant purchases, ideally, you want to buy from a seller who goes over and above legal minimums.
You can often find these sellers if you’re smart about your search queries. For example, instead of searching on just “Bentley Used” try “Bentley Approved Used”. Then do some more digging into the seller’s background. In particular, look at how long they’ve been trading and what kind of reputation they have.
For lower-cost items, it can be fine to buy directly from a private seller. Just make sure that you check the item thoroughly before you part with any money, especially if you’re paying cash (or bank transfer). Remember, with person-to-person pre-loved sales, the rule is “let the buyer beware”.
Sales platforms are a bit of a middle ground. You do get some consumer protection, but it’s still advisable to be on the cautious side. In simple terms, the more you’re paying, the more you should pay attention to seller feedback.
Be patient
Possibly the single, biggest difference between buying pre-loved and buying new is that you have to work with what there is. In other words, you can’t just decide what you need and hunt around the internet to see who has it in stock. You may have to wait a long time before the perfect item becomes available and when it does you’d better be ready to move quickly.
Know what you really want
You can make your life a lot easier if you’re clear about what’s a must-have and what’s a nice-to-have. For example, your ideal purchase might be a cognac leather desk chair. You might, however, be quite happy with a leather desk chair in another colour.
Similarly, decide whether or not you want a pre-loved purchase you can use straight away or whether you’re prepared to allow time and money for repairs. There’s no “right or wrong” about this. In fact, you might even come to different conclusions for different purchases.
If you’re thinking about adding a garage to your property, there is a lot that needs to be considered. While this may seem like a simple project on the surface, you are essentially adding another building to your home, and so you need to do so with care and consideration. With that factored in, let’s assess some of the different considerations in further detail.
What are you going to be using the garage for? – This is the first question you need to ask yourself when it comes to garage design. From car storage to tools, there are many different reasons why people require a garage. Designing a garage for your car is different from designing a garage to store your tools, and so this is the first thing that needs to be taken into account. If you want your garage particularly for something, then you would probably find that Custom Garages are better than pre-built garages, as you will want to design it to your specifications.
Storage systems – Aside from thinking about what you are going to use the garage for, you also need to consider what sort of storage set-up is going to be right for you. If you take a look online, you will see that there are plenty of different storage systems available today, so you’re bound to find something that is right for you. Plan this effectively to ensure that your storage system is functional and effective.
Door opener – You also need to think about what sort of garage door opener is going to be right for your home. Ease-of-use and security are two of the main elements that need to be taken into account when it comes to this. A lot of people prefer to have automatic garage doors at the moment, as they’re more secure and simple-to-use.
Garage flooring – In addition to the points that we have already spoken about, you also need to make sure that you consider your garage flooring carefully. The main element to consider here is durability, as you will want something that is long-lasting. Of course, you need to think about the style of the flooring and the safety as well. Teaming up with a reputable garage floor company is the best way to ensure you have the right type of flooring for your needs.
Security – The final piece of the puzzle you need to consider is the security of your garage. It is sad that we live in a day and age whereby we have to do everything in our power to protect what is rightfully ours. However, that is unfortunately where we find ourselves today. This is why you need to make sure you have advanced security in place, which should start with an alarm system.
To conclude, there is a lot that you should consider when it comes to adding a garage to your home. While it can be a little bit overwhelming, it is better to factor all of this in during the planning stage so that you can make sure that everything runs smoothly. You do not want to realise that you have forgotten something once it is too late.

The Dirtiest Things in Your House (And How to Clean Them)
Are you a neat freak like I am? I’m not a fan of cleaning, by any means. But, I take pride in keeping a clean and safe home for my family.
So, I was shocked to learn that some of the dirtiest things in my home were objects that I’d never expected. I was living with millions of bacteria colonies and even putting them all over my body and face without realizing it. EWWW!
I decided that these hidden germ hives had to go. I replaced most of my home’s dirtiest objects with cleaner alternatives. Or,I updated my cleaning regimen to make sure they never got filthy again.
Now, I’m bringing my hard-learned lessons to you. In this post, I’ll let you in on the grimiest secrets in your home. The following are the dirtiest objects (as defined by studies), and how to either replace them or clean them better.
1. Towels
Did you expect that your towels were the dirtiest things in your entire home? I sure didn’t. But it’s true. A study reported by The Daily Mail found that towels are dirtier than doorknobs, sinks and even toilet seats.
How do towels get so dirty?
Towels live in your bathroom, so they are surrounded by bacteria that comes from your body and the toilet. Not only that, but they’re usually a bit damp, and they stay in the dark all day. You couldn’t find a better place for germs to grow. And they do grow. A LOT.
The average towel contains hundreds of times more bacteria than a toilet seat. It’s also home to mould, fungus, mites and more. Towels can even carry and transmit viruses like COVID-19 with ease.
When I discovered all of this, I knew it was time for a change. So, I tossed out our towels and replaced them with Soji Towels. Soji are antimicrobial towels, which means they are 99.99% immune to all germs. Soji self-clean and remain sterile for life.
Soji are woven with real silver, which is an antimicrobial element. That means germs cannot survive or replicate on Soji. This effect can never wash or fade away. It lasts for the life of the towel.
Not only does that guarantee a clean towel after every shower, but it also guarantees an end to towel odours (those musty odours are caused by bacteria and mould growth).
One of the reasons we chose Soji over other towels is because they’re oversized and super soft. Soji are made with bamboo, a type of fibre that is softer and finer than cotton. They are woven with a special Japanese open-air weave that allows air to flow through the towel. This gives Soji a fluffy, plush feel. And, it helps Soji to dry 3x faster than other towels.
No more germs. No more odours. And no more damp towels!
Using Soji brought a lot of peace of mind to my home. Now, I know my family isn’t using bacteria-infested towels. If you want to get a set of Soji for yourself, you can use this link to get 50% off the retail price. If you think they’re for you, have a look!
2. The toilet
We know you saw this one coming. It’s no surprise that the toilet, and the area around it, is one of the dirtiest places in your home.
What might surprise you is just how easy it is to prevent germs from spreading in this area. It doesn’t take a single cleaning product or a moment of work to cut germs in the toilet by up to 50%.
All you have to do is PUT THE LID DOWN before you flush!
Here’s why.
When you flush the toilet, the whirlpool that sucks the water down is followed by a burst of air that expells a “plume” of bacteria out of the toilet. This bacteria dusts everything in your bathroom and can linger in the air for up to 30 minutes.
This is how faecal matter and other nasty things can spread to your towels, toothbrushes, makeup, and pretty much everything else in your bathroom or toilet.
If you put the lid down, you’ll have a cleaner bathroom all the time, and you’ll need to scrub a little less often.
3. The kitchen sink
Your kitchen sink is home to soap and sponges, so how could it be so dirty? You might wash a lot of dishes in the sink, but how often do you wash the sink itself?
Those food bits in the bottom can become powerful bacteria colonies, especially if they contact raw meat, eggs and milk. Your sink can also get dirty during food prep. How often do you touch the sink handles after touching raw meat or wiping off dirty plates?
This bacteria can build up, and resilient strains like salmonella and e.Coli can survive and cause illness.
Many kitchen sinks are made of stainless steel, which is semi-effective at repelling germs. But, if you really want a clean sink, switch to copper. Copper, like the silver found in Soji Towels, is naturally antimicrobial. It will keep all germs out of your sink and off of your handles.
However, buying a new sink is a big change. If you’re not ready yet, just remember to clean the interior and exterior of your sink with a disinfectant every day. And, don’t let food sit in the drain for more than a few hours.
4. Kids’ toys
How often do you clean your kids’ toys? Probably never. Most of them contain electronic parts these days, so you can’t exactly toss them in the dishwasher.
No matter how high tech those toys are, kids will still put them in their mouths, let the dog chew them, take them outside, and drool all over them in their sleep. Germs can very easily crawl into cracks between buttons and action figure appendages and begin to spread.
Kids also like to share their toys with others. This makes them one of the easiest spreaders of disease, such as the flu, which can survive on toys for up to 48 hours, according to the CDC.
It’s a good idea to give your kids’ favourite toys a good wash every few weeks. If the toys are electronic, you can wipe them down with phone-friendly disinfectant wipes. It only takes a few seconds to do.
If they’re not electronic, you can put them in a basin of water and soak them. Or, you can clean them with an ultrasonic wand to blast the debris from all those cracks and hinges.
Clean, Safe… and Easy
It doesn’t take a ton of scrubbing to de-germ the dirtiest things in your house. All it takes is a few upgrades and a little outside-the-box thinking.
The biggest germ factories in your home are your sink and toilet. You can limit their spreading potential simply by putting down the toilet lid and showing your sink a little TLC. Though, getting a copper sink is the best option, if you can afford it.
The most germ-friendly environment in your home is found on your towels. These bacteria-spreaders can be easily replaced by antimicrobial Soji Towels. Now, you can get a set of Soji for 50% off the retail price, making them about the same price as a set of regular towels. If it’s been a while since you got new towels, you’re probably due for an upgrade anyway!

Some people are happy and confident in themselves, and some are not. For those that aren’t, they may wish to go down the route of cosmetic surgery options. It might also be the case that they have sustained injuries to the facial area and wish to have reconstructive surgery to regain some confidence in their appearance once more. There are many options to look at when considering cosmetic surgery, this can vary on what the person is wanting to achieve, and also dependent on what parts of the face they are looking to alter or restructure potentially due to injuries.
Cosmetic Surgery for a Change in Appearances
For Medical Reasons
Some people may want to consider facial restructuring as they have sustained serious injuries, such as burns, cuts, or considerable bone and structural damage. This leads to the person in question becoming insecure of their face and appearance towards others, meaning they want to have cosmetic facial surgery to hopefully regain confidence within themselves personally and socially. Any considerable injury is sure to take a toll on someone’s mental health, especially if it as apparent as it would be on their face, for this reason there are also many facial reconstructions for medical reasons. It could even be the case that someone might perhaps need to undergo rhinoplasty or similar cosmetic surgery to open up airways or to rectify other issues that could cause problems with physical health in their future life. In situations like these, consulting with experienced professionals such as plastic surgery specialists Philadelphia can help individuals explore appropriate medical and cosmetic options available in their region.
Reversing or Stalling the Aging Process
Some age faster aesthetically than others, and so they might feel that cosmetic surgery is one avenue to approach when wanting to try and reverse or potentially stall the aging process of their face.
By contacting a mini facelift expert Newport Beach or elsewhere, you can explore cosmetic procedures designed to tighten your skin and create a youthful appearance. Various other procedures can be utilized to attempt this, this can be complete restructuring to alter the changes in the face that come with age, such as a droopier appearance due to the loss of muscle tone as well as decreased bone mass.
Botox can be used to reverse the loss of muscle and bone mass on a person’s face by filling out the parts that may seem a little hollower than the rest, ultimately creating the perception of a fuller, more youthful face. Rhinoplasty options are also used as the nose tends to change a little with age a lot more than people realize because of the decreased bone mass in the lower segment of the face, this causes the upper segment to become more prominent and could impact a person’s self-perception to their beauty and age.
When considering such intricate procedures, especially those aimed at restoring youthful contours or correcting age-related changes, the expertise of the surgeon is paramount. Patients often seek out highly skilled professionals who can provide personalized care and ensure natural-looking results. Consulting with board-certified Chicago plastic surgeons (or indeed those elsewhere) can offer access to advanced techniques and a comprehensive range of cosmetic and reconstructive options. These specialists prioritize patient safety and satisfaction, guiding individuals through their aesthetic journey with precision and compassion.
For those looking to restore balance and enhance their facial profile, Rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills or elsewhere can offer expert solutions tailored to these natural changes.
Altogether, there could be many reasons as to why someone wishes to have cosmetic surgery, a person’s appearance can play a vital role in their confidence and self-perception which then effects the way they hold themselves within social situations, these cosmetic surgeries can then actually have the power to improve people’s lives for the better, allowing them to be the person they feel they are, or should be.It is also common that people don’t exactly want to age or show the signs of aging and therefore may turn to cosmetic surgery to slow the process. All in all, the advancements within cosmetic surgeries are bettering those that want to make changes to their appearance and it’s
A trip to the dentist is part of our dental care plan. I visit my dentist at least three times a year. The visits are voluntary and help to clean my tooth and find any oral health issues. It’s much easier when the dentist is well-versed with one’s dental history.
With that said, dental visits don’t need to be limited to a few times a year. We should see these experts whenever we experience discomfort in our oral health, be it to get dental implants from Enhanced Dental Studios or simply for a general check to ensure the pain won’t be coming back. Ignoring such symptoms might signal the onset of serious infections. Below are the red signs that we need to see a dentist immediately.
Tooth Pain
We have all experienced toothaches, and the experience is miserable. If the ache is accompanied by swelling of the cheek, the root is probably infected. Dental pain might also be due to injury, infection, decay, or loss of a tooth. If you have an urgent dental issue, you may need to contact an emergency dentist to be seen quickly. A dental professional can help pinpoint the origin of these aches and prescribe a treatment plan.
Bleeding Gums
Bleeding gums become a real worry if it regularly happens, with or without brushing. When we eat, food remnants stick to our teeth. With time, the food decomposes and becomes the breeding ground for bacteria. These bacteria irritate and infect our gums. Whenever we bleed, it could be the first indicator of periodontal diseases. Only a dentist can help prevent further infections and you might want to find somewhere to have periodontal therapy herndon or somewhere local to you. After a quick Google search you will be able to find a professional close to you who can help.
Translucent Teeth
According to my dentist at periodontal therapy Herndon, teeth color is the best yardstick of oral health. We need to examine our teeth in the mirror routinely. If they appear translucent on the edges, we need to call our dentists as soon as possible. Translucent teeth might indicate the onset of bruxism. In medical terms, this condition refers to the grinding of our teeth.
Bruxism occurs at night when most of us are deep in sleep. That’s the reason why we are unaware of this problem. The translucent color appears because the enamel has faded away. People with such symptoms need dentistry assistance.
Bad Breath
There’s nothing more embarrassing than having bad breath. With such a condition, conversations with people become a real nightmare. Worse off, the more we keep mum, the more the buildup of bad odor. Chewing gum and brushing teeth help, but they don’t solve the underlying issue.
Bad breath can be caused by factors such as tooth decay, tooth infection, and gum disease. If untreated, these infections can metamorphose beyond bad breath to severe oral diseases. Seeing a doctor at a trusted Philadelphia dental office, or one local to you, is the ideal option since they can diagnose the problem early and find a long-lasting solution.
Sensitivity to Hot and Cold
Teeth sensitivity (dentin hypersensitivity) is prevalent among many people. It occurs when the inner layers of our teeth get exposed to external stimuli. The enamel is responsible for protecting our teeth, but nerve endings become exposed when it gets ground up. This results in sharp pains when we eat hot or cold food.
Sensitivity toothpaste is only a temporary solution. A change in our oral hygiene regimen is required to remedy this situation. Frequent sensitivity on one or several of our teeth might indicate deeper issues. Scheduling an appointment with a dentist becomes non-negotiable.
Canker Sore
These sores are tiny ulcers that attack our palates, gums, tongues, philtrum, or the inside of our cheeks. I have experienced this condition twice in my life when I accidentally bit my lip. Such sores heal within a week, provided we keep the sore clean and infection-free.
Recurring, unhealable canker sores might be the indication of severe health shortcomings. It could be caused by elements like hormonal shifts, stress, immunity problems, and stress. Such unhealable sores tend to spread. It’s advisable to consult a dentist once they appear.
Whether you are doing up a house from scratch or simply redecorating, kitchen flooring is crucial. It may not be the first thing you think of – or the most exciting to consider – but flooring is essential. You’ll use it every day, and it will affect the whole atmosphere of your kitchen.
When considering flooring, there are a few factors to think about. Cleanliness, colour and practicality are just a few to start your thinking. Each option will come with its advantages and disadvantages.
Tile
Tile is probably the most popular kitchen flooring. It is durable and long-lasting. Plus it’s perfect for wetter areas like the kitchen. If you get water on the floor when washing up, it’s not going to be a problem.
Plus, if there are any cooking-related spills or accidents, cleanup is quick and hassle-free compared to carpet, which can trap stains and odors. Tile flooring offers a sleek, moisture-resistant surface that prevents spills from seeping in, ensuring a hygienic and low-maintenance kitchen environment. For a wide selection of high-quality tile options that blend durability, style, and easy upkeep, consider exploring National Floors Direct. With expert guidance and a variety of designs, you can find the perfect flooring to complement your kitchen’s aesthetic and functionality.
The quality of your tiled floor will depend on the installation, grouting and sealing. It’s essential to turn to proper materials companies like Fosroc when tiling your floor to make sure you get the most out of it.
This flooring has become more prevalent in recent years. It’s originator, the vinyl flooring from a generation ago, was not the prettiest sight. However, as technology has changed, so has vinyl flooring adapted.
Vinyl is waterproof – perfect for accidents and spillages – and is much softer than tiled flooring. Even though it’s more comfortable on the feet, it’s still durable and tough.
Plus, vinyl can come in a variety of appearances. If you want a tiled look or a wood look, vinyl offers these options.
Stained concrete
The most durable of all kitchen flooring, stained concrete will last you a lifetime. It may not sound like the most beautiful of floorings, but you can make it to fit your interior decor perfectly with the staining. It can be stained to look like wood, tiles or stone.
Stained concrete is one of the cheapest options available to you, so if you are looking to decorate on a budget, this option comes highly recommended.
Trends for 2021
No matter the type of flooring you choose for your kitchen, some trends affect all options.
For 2021, lighter flooring is in style. So, if you’re looking to pick a type of tile, style of vinyl or colour of concrete stain, looking for the lighter colours is the stylish way forward.
On top of this, more asymmetric patterns are in. Taking tiles of different sizes to make a mismatched style is a big trend at the minute. Even positioning them so your tiles run diagonally would be approved by the style gods of 2021.
In vinyl, it’s becoming popular to pick patterns for the finish of your flooring. For example, chevron and herringbone are starting to look good in many people’s kitchens.
Whatever flooring you go for, remember to consider practicality as well as style.
