One of the many considerations when picking a wig is to find a style that matches your face shape. When done correctly, you will always be able to pick wigs that complement your natural appearance making you look more beautiful.
If you don’t know the shape of your face, there are a few ways you can find out. The first and the easiest way is to trace the outlines of your face from a photograph. Use a passport type photo where your head is directly facing the camera lens. Once you have the trace, match that to the different face shapes. You can also look yourself in the mirror and draw an outline on the mirrored surface.
Once you figure out your face shape you are ready to pick wigs.
Oblong: If you have an oblong face then you want wigs that make your face look shorter. You know you have an oblong-shaped face when you have a largeforehead and an equally long chin. Layered medium-length styles are your best friends. You can also pick wigs with bangs that cover up the forehead to make your face appear shorter.
Oval: Dimensions of oval-shaped face types are pretty balanced and proportional. If you have this face type, then your temple line and chin look symmetrical. You also have a narrow jawline. People who have oval-shaped faces are in luck because they can pull off a lot of different types of wig styles. Right from long lace front wigs to short pixies, you can pretty much wear any style you want. The only style you should avoid is lace front wigs with bangs. The bangs cover up your forehead region, which can make your face look shorter, thus compromising the symmetry.
Heart: This is when you have wide cheeks and forehead and a narrow chin. Avoid styles that end at your jawline. Instead, pick longer styles that flow below the shoulders. You don’t want wigs that are top-heavy with a lot of volume at the top. Casual medium-length curls are best suited for your face type.
Round: If you have a round face, you want wigs that make your face look slimmer than it actually is. Don’t pick wigs that have too much volume on the sides. Short high-volume styles are also not recommended. The best pick for your facial shape is long layered wigs. You can also pick styles that are voluminous at the top to make your face appear slimmer.
Square: If you have this face type then you want to pick styles that defocus the angles of your face. Wavy or curly medium-length wigs are perfect for you. It’s also recommended to avoid straight sleek styles as they will make your face look more angular. Soft curls and long wavy styles will look great on you.
Pear: If you have a pear-shaped face then you have a wide jaw and a relatively narrow forehead. You want wigs that take the focus off your jaw and highlights your forehead. Bob lace front wigs with wavy hair is a good style for you. Medium-length layers are also a great fit for your face type.
Have you ever tried a wig to change up your style without having a dramatic cut?
