Avoid Dating Disasters at Christmas

Tis the season to be jolly, or so the carol goes. But what happens when it all goes a bit ‘partridge in a pear tree’-shaped?
Dating at Christmas means there’s more to consider that your own family arrangements. From arguing over where to go for the big day to the awful moment when you find out your other half has got you a terrible present, we’ve come up with some top tips to help you avoid awkward Yuletide situations at all costs.

Your place or mine

The first year of dating when you decide Christmas is maybe an ideal time to spend time together and get to know the families, how do you decide who’s family to spend it with.

I suppose there are many factors to consider, like small children or elderly relatives.

It’s important that you discuss what you’d like to do well in advance of December 25th. Perhaps you could split the day, so that Christmas morning is spent with your family and you’re over to his parents in time for the Queen’s speech. Or, if home is at opposite ends of the country, why not agree to alternate where you spend Christmas each year – this will help to avoid an alcohol fuelled fall out when the cherry trifle comes out.

Pass on the present

Over the years, you’ve probably practised your “It’s just what I’ve always wanted” line on those unwanted knitted scarves from Granny and the wrong football team’s strip from your Uncle.

However, when dating, honesty is always the best policy. So, once you’re away from prying eyes, you should gently tell your partner that while you love the sentiment, you’d perhaps prefer something else.
Avoid receiving the wrong gift altogether by writing a list of things you’d really love and dropping major hints about how much you hate surprises!
I see no logic in having money wasted on pointless gifts I make sure I write a list or take the person shopping with me. Money is worked hard for let’s not waste it.

Slow Gin

Everyone loves a good ripple at  Christmas but it’s been known that drink sometime spoil the fun.

Everything in moderation okay don’t be drinking a whole bottle of whiskey and telling your uncle that you see once a year what you really think about him.

Keep a clear head so if your new partner has an issue with family you can resolve it quickly and Efficiently.

Bird is the Word

What brings people around the table more then the lovely turkey dinner. Even people on the Cheshire dating scene love turkey right?

If all else fails and the conversation has stopped get everyone round the table and enjoy the festive favourite meal.

Turkey and all the trimmings. Might be worth checking that your date isn’t a vegetarian first as that could always end the date on a bum note lol.

I find a great way to get people bonding is get everyone helping with the meal. Maybe mix up the couples and give them a course each.

They have to bond then right?
