An excellent starting point is to support shops that focus on embracing cultural diversity. For example, you may consider choosing stores that include in their collection traditional garments from different cultures or collections inspired by certain regions of the world. Select Shops with Parent-Friendly Facilities

Next up, let’s talk about facilities for babies and parents. Today, in the UK, it is estimated that only around 15% of public toilets have baby changes that are accessible to all caregivers, including male figures.

On the other hand, if you love a certain store or brand but you have noticed that they don’t provide adequate facilities, be sure to inquire even if you are not directly affected. Remember: demand drives supply!

Review The Policies of Your Favorite Brands

If you already have a preferred shop or brand, you may consider reviewing their policies about inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability to make more conscious choices. When switching from a brand to another, look at their goals and values to ensure they align with yours. For example, you may opt for businesses that have transparent policies, donate to charities, or have programs to prevent pre-loved items from going to waste. 

And, of course, when choosing a brand, check whether their size system is in fact inclusive. This can help you gain insight into the business’s approach to inclusivity. 

Opt for Businesses with Disability-Friendly Features

When choosing a business to shop at, it is incredibly important to look at their approach to accessibility, even if you are not directly affected. Look around and, if you are in doubt, be sure to ask the store manager what policies they have in place. And, of course, look beyond just step-free access options–look out for braille signs, QR codes that redirect to digital pages that are accessible, and language support options that allow everyone to understand how products are made and delivered.
